Digital Camera Question? For the past couple of months I've been looking into a more high-tech camera rather than keeping my small Kodak. I'm looking to buy one of those bigger, black cameras with changeable lenses (idk what theyre called) rather than a slim one. I was looking at the Sony DSC-H7, but the reviews made me rethink it. Now I was looking through Nikon cameras. My question is: Does anyone recommend a camera that that takes great pictures, isn't too loud, and can take multiple frames within a second. I've been looking through so many cameras these past couple of days, I want a recommendation on a camera. Now, I'm young and don't have a job. So price is a factor, but a small one. I can save money, but I prefer that the price is low. But it's not a big deal. What you are looking for is called a digital SLR (single lens reflex). By the way the Sony that you mentioned above is not one. I would look at the entry level models from Canon and Nikon. Both companies make fabulous cameras and lenses. You can't go wrong with either of them. Some models to look at would be. Canon XTi or XSi Nikon D40 or D60 These cameras will all cost you between $500 and $1,000 dollars with a lens. SLR cameras work different than point and shoot cameras so I do recommend that you take a class. The models listed all have auto settings but if you learn how to adjust your aperture, shutter speed, ISO and white balance manually you will be happier. Some differences between point and shoot cameras would be. 1. You can change lenses. There are lenses made for every situation you can think of. From wide angle to super telephoto. 2. The ability to control everything manually. Shutter speed, Aperture, ISO, White balance and focus. 3. Much better image quality. This comes from better optics and a much larger image sensor. The image sensor is roughly 15 times larger than that of a point and shoot camera. 4. Most do not have live view through the LCD. Some do but you are better off learning to compose through the viewfinder.
