On a Nikon digital SLR camera kit, the lens listed is a Nikon 18-55mm lens? Does this mean that if it were on a Nikon 35mm camera it would be the equivalent of a 27mm-82mm lens? ( Using NIkons 1.5x multiplier ). The reason I ask is that I am more familiar with 35mm lens focal lengths. Just trying to figure out what lens I am getting. Zoom,wide angle etc... The 1.5 focal length multiplier means that whatever the lens states, multiply it by 1.5 for your effective field of view on a digital body. So the 18-55mm would appear to be 18-55mm on a film body and 27-82mm when you use it on a digital body. However... Nikon DX lenses, and the 18-55 happens to be a DX lens, are intended for digital bodies ONLY. These lenses were designed with a smaller image circle than regular lenses (which is okay, because the sensor is smaller than a frame of 35mm film.)
