Best (cheap) HD Camcorder? I don't want to spend more than £150 and I'm looking for something that: I can watch back on a 42" Phillips 1080p TV Can take good quality still pictures (similar in quality to a digital camera) even in low light, as I'll mostly be taking pics and videos indoors Also, is there any point getting a camcorder that records in 720p if I have a 1080p TV? Many pocket cams do not take still images but the Zi8 does (5.3MP). It's also the only pocket cam I know of that has an external microphone jack. You can also record to memory cards (not all pocket cams do that). You won't notice that much of a difference between 720 and 1080 on your TV playback. And you don't need a flash (most are not that powerful and give so little that its almost worthless). Some pocket cams claim that they are good in low light, but you really can't expect too much out of a cam that is so small (compact). Having sufficient light for video will make it look really good as opposed to low light that makes it look grainy or discolored (lots of those kinds on YouTube). Proper lighting is the key to good looking video.
